Pericles
I think it’s safe to say that this was a great weekend. Saturday we shot the “Pericles” video and it couldn’t have gone better. Well, maybe if there were less injuries it would have been better, but one must sacrifice for one’s art. The shoot started at 8:30 am, the band, Todd, Ben, and Lauren all stumbling sleepily into my parents’ kitchen. As we went over the storyboards, Ben and Lauren began to realize what they had gotten themselves into.
The shoot went very smoothly, with everyone working together, contributing ideas, and really making this a memorable experience. I can’t tell you how happy and thankful for Ben and Lauren’s enthusiasm I am, both being talented actors and terrific people in general. It’s good to have great friends.
After the shoot, we all went our separate ways, the band collecting themselves for our show that night at Milly’s Tavern, Todd to work his magic on the footage, and Lauren and Ben to do whatever Laurens and Bens do, probably with a mixture of pride and shame for what they had done.
By the end of our show, Todd had finished editing. We met him in a gas station parking lot at 2am to watch the finished product. It was kind of amazing, standing there, watching the laptop sitting on the hood of Tim’s truck, wondering how a silly little song I wrote in high school turned into a professional recording (thanks to the talented engineer, Bryan Atterberry) and amazing music video. There’s definitely a lot to be thankful for.
Pass the banana,
Ross
